I have a newly built computer with a P5k deluxe mobo (won't boot to windows vista 64 installation CD). I've tried just about everything (boot device order, DVD drive jumpers, switching memory, booting from winXP, ubuntu, and a used hard drive, using a different dvd drive, resetting CMOS, upgrading BIOS) i think i may have messed up while installing the heatsink.. could abnormally high temperatures be causing the error message: "reboot and select proper boot media or insert boot media in selected boot device a press a key"?

That is a normal load temp and a little elevated for normal use but still well within normal use parameters. however, this shouldnt have any bearing on installing the OS. But it is possible. If the heat sink isnt installed properly it can have a lot of adverse affects on the computer. What you may need to do is get a new disc from microsoft because the disc they gave is just screwed up or you have the wrong drive configuration in the BIOS, or jumpers or something. Its in the BIOS i think for this problem. You may have been so pissed that you switched something without switching some else and its as simple as turning on an IDE header or something.

You probably got the 105 watter instead of the 95 watter. Better reseat you heatsink and replace the thermal paste with Arctic Silver 5 or Zalman STG1. Also ensure good case ventilation. Try checking temps with Core Temp. The readings you got may not be that accurate.

If your quad is really hot, try the cooling solutions from Thermalright, Zalman, Scythe, Noctua, etc. Thermalright Ultra Extreme is my favorite but right now I can only afford the Ninja.

Yo. Firstly, if the heat sink isnt on properly then put it on properly. 67 degrees is high, not alarmingly high but still high, you should consider more fans.My temp at home is 50 degrees max and I overclock and I live in Trinidad with generally 34degrees.

The message has nothing to do with cpu heat. Either the proper boot device isnt selected or its not being detected. SATA drive sometimes show up but are not properly detected. Make sure cables and bios settings are good.

It's fine, as long as it doesn't go over ~75
