Good question. My 7 year olds think £5 is loads of money. I think probably 1 Million is a lot.
Big difference isn't it?

I think that a million is a sickening amount of money "too much" and I have often wondered why the national lottery isn't capped at something like 250,000 which is a heck of a lot of money, it would buy and furnish a home. I'd say half that again and you're still talking a lot of money. Around ten years wages for some folk.

Having said that, I've got £20 in my pocket...and as I don't need anything from the shops then that's a lotta lolly to have "free" so near to payday. Might just have to get me a takeaway later...hmmmm foooood

It's all relative isn't it, depending on how much you normally have. All I can say is that if I were lucky enough to have a lottery win, although some might consider £1 million a lot, by the time I'd settled debts, given to relations etc, there wouldn't be much over so I wouldn't think that amount enough. £5m would be satisfactory, I could pay debts, help family and have plenty over to ensure security for the rest of my life by investing wisely and having income generated from it.

if you have 1 penny at the 1st of the month and duplicate it every day by the end of the month how much you got?

1x1=2
2x2=4
4x4=16
16x16=256 end of the month is more than £10,000,000

Any way a lot of money is what you aim for just get it in small bits and it will only grow.

i started thinking a £1000 was a lot now i would not wake up for less than £2000 a day.

it just grows the more you have the more you want.

A lot of money to me would be twice what I get paid a month. My monthly salary covers my expenditures with a little to spare so I would say I would consider twice my monthly salary a lot as it means that I have paid all my bills and have the same again to spend/save (I would consider myself very wealthy if I did!!).

Even in a rich country you should not feel embarrassed by offering a 55 $ gift. Only arrogant people would feel insulted. And for the Philippines it is a nice amount. Hope you'll make someone happy!

About a hundred thousand pounds as that would make a difference to my bank account and to the family finances, less than that would dent both but so as not to be noticed and more would be a blessing to the finances or a real struggle.

to owe or to own?

To owe $30,000 is a lot.

To own $30,000 is not very much.

I think a lot would be an amount where you would have to say to yourself, "Crap, I could NEVER come up with that kind of money!"

For me, that would be probably about 200K or more. For you it may be way less, or way more.
