Hi,

I know that a woman ovulates 14 days after her first day in mestruation. I was just wondering, could she ovulate before the 14th day? People say to start testing for ovulation from home starting from the 11th or 12th day after the first day of period. Is there a possibility to ovulate before the 14th?
Please advise

Thanks all!

Every woman ovulates on a different day, not every woman has a 28 day cycle. You can ovulate at a different time each month, or have fluke ovulations on an unexpected day. Some times some women can actually ovulate twice each cycle.

Theres usually a window of a few days where a woman will usually ovulate, and that tends to be regular and part of her cycle. However, every woman and every body is different.

I ovulate on day 23 of a 38-40 day cycle. But I had my son from sex we had while I was on my period. Fluke ovulation.

Of course ... I know I do N lot of my friends. Usually women with shorter cycles ie. less than 28 days (4 me 25 days) usually ovulate early than the set average of 14 days. Remember when you are trying to perdict ovulation you should count backwards from the next day of expected period ... is that 14 days? Also when you R TTC maybe U should invest in an ovulation predictor if U have not been charting. Well Best of Luck N Lots of Baby Dust. Remember anything is possible N to stay positive!

I think I am the only person who ovulates on the 14th day. They say day 14 because it is the average. I know someone who doesn't ovulate until day 20! You can ovulate as early as the day after you get off your period. If your cycle is 28 days or longer, I'd start using OPK's on day 10. If it is shorter, start from day 8. Make sure you don't use FMU, try SMU instead.

Ovulation is NOT determined by your last period but by the next one. The average woman ovulates 10-16 days BEFORE her next period begins. This number, once she determines it will ALWAYS be the same. So, yes, if she has a short luteal phase(time from ovulation day to menstruation begins) and a short overall cycle it is completely possible. It is also rare but possible to ovulate during the end of her period time if she has long ones in particular.
