Okay I just have to clear some of the garbage that has been said up, the 10K Raptors ARE faster, I have no idea where the last two people got those ideas, they are both way off. That said, the speed gain is not hugely noticeable, and it will be much louder. Running two drives in RAID 0 will pretty much give you the same speed boost, and you will end up with much more drive space, and less noise.

The Raptor hands down. It's faster than any SATA 3.0 out there. On paper it shouldn't be but, due to technology it is.
I use 2 75s in a Raid0 with a SATA 3.0 drive for storage in my gaming rig.

No such thing as a 7200rpm Raptor btw.
If you want more storage you can always add another drive for storage. Althou it seems to be the fad using one giant hard drive and partioning it, if your hard drive goes down your data can all be lost no matter how many partitions you have.
Some will argue that you can take the drive in and have someone with a prog recover the data--maybe you will be able to for a price much higher than the price of just buying a second drive in the first place.
A 150GB raptor and a 400GB caviar is a far better choice than a single 500GB caviar!

Go with the 150GB. Most people don't use anywhere near 150GB much less 500GB. By the time you use up your 150GB if you ever do, you could get another 150GB hard drive and setup a RAID on it, and put a second swap file on it for a big boost in performance!

Everyone says the Raptors are Faster but they only have a 1.5 GB/sec transfer rate whereas most new HDs are 3.0 GB/sec plus they are relatively inexpensive. If you only have $200 to spend I would say get 2 500 GB drives and run them in a RAID which would beat out 1 Raptor any day. and you will have a lot more storage space.

Everybody is wrong. The 500 is faster. The platter doesn't spin as fast, but the data is packed twice as densely on those models, so more passes under the head with each rotation.

I'd go with the 10K drive... You'll see a noticable difference in speed.
