If someone goes through the trouble and uses points to ask a question, why not take the time to choose a best answer?
Unless all the responses are rude or nasty it makes no sense to get some of your points back and also help the other poster out.

Poke bear, it's called common courtesy.

I agree with you. I've done that on two occasions. The very first time I asked a question, a year and a half ago, and about a month ago when I thought I had extended the question, and apparently didn't.

If people take the time to respond, the person asking the question should take the time and have the courtesy to select a best answer. I also feel that when selecting an answer it doesn't have to be based on your own point of view and personal bias. I pick best answers from both sides of the fence.

Too many people don't bother doing that, and it's really a shame.

You can have the best of both worlds if, instead of choosing, you put your question up for a vote, but then vote on an answer. If the question you vote for comes up best, you get the 3 points anyway.

2 points for a new answer or 1 point to vote for a Best answer. What would you choose? The choice is obvious !

I love picking best answer, I try and ask my questions in the morning and then at night when I get home I pick my best answers.

The best part of this whole thing is reading and picking a best answer.

Because it is their question. Their decision. Ask your own questions and choose a best answer. Otherwise, why do you care? Are you their mother or something?

Because it is not all about points. Sometimes you really need an answer.

Yahoo can end this abuse in a heart beat by users (and it is an abuse!!) by simply blocking their participation in this forum until the asker picks a "best answer".
