The 1024 by 768 resolution won't work on my monitor?

Question

Well each tim I put the monitor on the 1024 by 768 resolution, all four sides are stretched out and curved so you cant see them, I know how to adjust it using the monitor settings buttons on the monitor but it won' move at all

because of this I am forced to use 800 by 600 resolution

will reseting the monitor solve this problem? Or is there a way to change the settings so that it supports the bigger resolution?

if its an acnient as **** monitor or you have a really old computer then clearly yes - you would have a problem.

The problem (im guessing its old) is that the anode/cathodes that direct the electron guns along the X and Y axes *technical blablablha* have probably gotten old or de-polarised or some other such evil in such a way that anything above 800x600 and it overloads them, meaning they dont have any accuracy left in them at that stage.

I'm afraid there's no other advice available to you than to trash the monitor - I recommend going to an LCD, but a new CRT is cheap as hell.

Yo, your monitor has a max resolution set so you can't go above it. If your monitor does'nt support that resolution then it wont work.

See if you can adjust the monitor while in 800x600. If not then your monitor isnt working properly and calling a technition should solve it.

You have to use the monitor adjustments to fix the screen at that resolution. Old monitors are like that. There might be an auto adjust choice in the monitor controls, but you'll probably have to do it manually.
