if he was a white second-stringer, no one would care if he got jail time, because they wouldn't know about it in the first place.

If Vick was white - I would feel the same way. I don't care about the color of his skin.

White people are not going around saying that n#@(*&^ was dog fighting and that n*&^%$ should get locked up. White people have not made this a race thing. Because it is not a race thing.

Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods are two of the most beloved athletic figures in modern history. They chose to present themselves as positive role models. They chose to be an example in their celebrity and wealth. You will be hard pressed to find anyone (or any race) that would disparage them.

Vick is a thug. He is a criminal. He abused and tortured animals. Those that call this a race thing or "just another case of playa hating" are only doing that to try to defect attention from Vick's chosen actions and the fact that he broke the law.

If it was a white guy caught doing it - would you be so quick to defend?

I don't think anyone cares about his age, race, what he does for a living, his family status, how much money he has, etc. I don't. What he did was terrible, and he deserves to be punished. I'm sure plenty of average people get busted for the same thing, but you don't hear about it because they aren't famous. I think he actually has an advantage, because he has the resources to fully defend himself. The problem is when a whole bunch of people are testifying against him as witnesses it is hard to fight it no matter how much money you have.

Look at O.J. He was rich, black, and a famous ex-athlete, and he got away with murdering two people because he had the money to hire great lawyers. I'm an average white person, and if I did the same thing I'd be in jail for life.

He broke the law. That's the bottom line. It's a damn shame that Lindsey Lohan, and Nic Richie can break the law, and do hours worth of jail time, and this guy can get a max penalty, but they don't have me on that jury. The punishment should fit the crime. He didn't kill another human being, so he shouldn't get the death penalty, but he did break the law, he knew he was breaking the law, he intended to commit the crime, he committed it, and then he lied about it. His sentence should fit his behavior. I'm sick and tired of celebs getting their butts bailed out of every trouble they get into because of their money, or the associated stigma, and it's got to end.

We wouldn't HAVE TO!! It would be a GIVEN that any ordinary Joe who perpetrates these acts on animals would do HARD time. People are clamoring for jail time for Mr. Vick, because they have seen how money talks and B*llsh*t walks....

The only people who seem to be making a big deal out of the color or Mr. Vicks skin are his fellow Black people.

He was involved in dog fighting. Of course, he should go to jail, no matter his skin color.

Maybe he thinks that the fact that he is a star quarterback, he should not be punished to that terrible thing. Being a "playa" does not mean that he can do whatever he wants and not face the repercussions.

Doesnt matter what his skin color is,or his vocation,he did a wicked deed and should be punished for his wickedness. The Bible says we are to treat animals with humaneness,i dont agree with the way americans over pamper their pets, that is sinful as well.It is also true in this country we care more about animals and protect them more than we do human babies, whom we slaughter by the millions each year,no outcry over that, huh? It is also not right to put to sleep pets, but that is human beings fault for not being accountable and responsible for their pets! Boils down to people are ALWAYS at fault for the breakdown of society because they will NOT obey what is already written in the Bible.

He deserves jail- as for those who are calling for the death penalty - oh come on - losing that $130 million contract may be a fate worse than death to him.

These dogs have to be euthanized because they have been found to be "too dangerous" to be placed in families.

I don't care if he's black, white or purple with orange polka dots. What he did to those dogs in the name of money and entertainment is criminal (which is why its, you know, against the law).

I just love how when black folk get in trouble there's also some clown who wants to pull the racist card.

No it is not a racial thing, Anyone convicted of this needs to go to jail for years and have their careers ended in football. I could care less about his wealth, color, age because his mind is what is wrong for thinking this activity is something to pursue.
