At the age of 40 your fertility is very deminished. If you want to have a baby you need to get moving now. Go ahead and at least see a reproductive endocrinologist, if you don't feel comfortable after the initial appt then you don't have to go back.

If you really want another child then go for it. The longer you wait the harder it will be in the future so do something about it now. Organise a referal to a gynea to see what they have to say about your options and your own fertility so at least you know what you are in for and can make an educated decision about what you want ot do.
Going through things artifically is not easy so make sureyou have a support person that you can open up to about how you are feeling and good luck.

this is a tough one, from an emotional standpoint it's really up to you if you want to have one on your own or wait to find a partner...now from a physical standpoint i completely disagree with your friend...sorry....but at 40 it becomes harder and harder to conceive, so while it's possible to conceive with fertility treatments at 47 for example the % decreases dramatically, talk to an RE (fertility specialist) to see what they think from a medical standpoint, you can ask an RE online for free and get their opinion, try www.FertilityTies.com
