The animal park is really neat - the zoo is even neater!! Both are worth the trip - what else are you going to do that day??

The last time I was there was over 15 years ago, but I'm sure it's the same if not better. The biggest difference between the Wild Animal Park and the SD Zoo is the Animal Park is in a much larger environment where the animals are free to roam around in, making it a much more natural setting, almost like being on a mini-safari. But because of that, everything is spread out and sometimes it's really hard to see the animals because they are so far away. But definitely not boring.
The animals in the Zoo are in typical enclosed environments which allows you to get really close up to see them. Both are quite excellent and the SD is one of the better zoos around.

Unless you hate animals, you won't be bored. Just plan on a lot of walking because the place is huge.
Get there early and stay late, those are the times the animals are most active. Spend the middle of the day in shops, the few indoor exhibits, and the shows.
If you get there early enough, you may be able to do some cool stuff like feed the giraffes.

It's a somewhat long drive from downtown San Diego. If I had a choice, I'd rather go to the Zoo at Balboa Park in San Diego, but the WAP is worth seeing.

Ohh I love the wild Animal Park. I used to have a pass, even before I had children. I then got pregnant, so I didn't renew it one year. Then two went by. Now, I am pregnant again...I am going to renew it early next year once the baby is born.
I did go in July...it was wonderful! I do like it much better then the zoo.

its pretty cool they have a train that goes around the habitat of the animals and then you can go feed the birds etc. I would recommend the zoo though if you had to pick one.

we were there nearly every weekend when Stationed in the area. WELL worth the price of admission. I highly recommend feeding the Lorries.

It is very nice - go there and slow down the pace of your life to the pace of the animals.

Many times with my children and their children, they had to go back many times. I do not think you will be bored, but you will do a lot of walking.

yes its so fun way more interactive with the animals then the zoo
