I think if there are any alive that were slaves, we should do something for them.
And make the living slave owners pay for it. Then put them in court for civil rights violations.

Am I going to be responsible somehow for these slaves because I hope not, I don't get anything from it, I want nothing to do with it so don't blame me.

Slavery is BIGGER now in terms of real numbers (but not a percentage) than it has ever been at any point in history. More people are enslaved now than were in the 18th century prior to abolition, mostly in Africa and the far east. Slaves are also cheaper now than they have ever been in history, you can buy a man in Mali for $40, wheras in 1850 it would cost more like $38 thousand (in modern money).
Though there isn't anyone alive today that LEGALLY owned or was a slave in the US (as they'd be about 150) there almost certainly are still slaves and slave owners in the US today. Slavery may be illegal in every country, but it still goes on.

No, legal slavery ended with the Emancipation Proclamation interior the 1860's. That guy or woman would ought to "owned" a slave as an toddler and as we communicate would be over one hundred forty years previous, that's approximately 2 an prolonged time longer than even the very oldest human beings stay. besides the incontrovertible fact that it is exciting to think approximately that individuals alive as we communicate have prevalent people who have been born into slavery. That historic past isn't so very some distance in the back of us.

Obviously you don't read the papers or listen to any credible news outlets. Slavery is ALIVE today!!!!!
Take a look at all the illegal transporters from Mexico called Coyotes....they take these young girls and enslave them into sex rings and work in these "Massage" houses. You don't even have to look that far, there was an arrest here in the DFW area in Texas about a month ago, 2 grown men kidnapped a mentally challanged girl from Oklahoma and brought her back down to Texas. They made this poor teenage girl have sex with 2 to 5 men a night for about a week. Tell me that isn't slavery....You can also find men that have to work off their debt to the coyotes or these guys will kill the remaining family members back in Mexico.
Transporting humans is a huge buisness here in the US, you just don't hear about it all that much. I am sure even in some third world nations there is slavery still going on today, I know there are some really bad things going on in Sierra Leone.
All you have to do is open your ears and eyes and see it in your city.

Slavery happens in ALL countries, some more than others. I suggest you look to the far east. The sex trade there is pretty horrific.

No one in the US has slaves anymore. Let the other countries deal with their own problems. Yeah its sad that someone is forced to do something for someone else. It's not right.
