Bush could have requested duty in Vietnam. Many people did. He didn't actually have to go as a pilot either. He could have simply requested any open billet. Nobody knows what went on in Bush's head at the time....but now....decades later he states that the US should have stayed in Vietnam at what ever cost in american lives. He states that 'millions' died because we withdrew. That's possible, but had we stayed its possible that millions would have died as well. Iraq is what's happening now. True, it's possible that there will be a lot of death and destruction in Iraq if we leave...but we don't 'know' to what degree that will be....but it's for certain there will be death and destruction to at least an equal degree if we we stay. How our country ever got suckered into this situation is a mystery, but it better end sooner than later or there will be big trouble right here in River City...and that's T that rhymes with B that stands for Bush!

If you are for the war read this
General Peter Pace now believes this
If the surge continues past May 2008 then what should be done
18 month tours in Iraq
only 9 months at home with 15 month tours
Have a draft
be willing to sign up and go
Time is running out, if you are for the War where are you going to get your Army from?
Many of our most experienced solders are getting out
with 6 to 8 years, because they do not want a 5th or 6th tour
Families are being torn apart
How we will get the Army to fight this war?

Bush sure changed his mind about fighting in wars as long as he wasn't a soldier (AWOL). As soon as his daddy gave him the purse strings to Halliburton, The Carlyle Group, and Bechtel it was guns a blazing with Bush still not involved as a soldier. Go figure though he is a chickenhawk neocon. Cheerleaders don't make very good soldiers you know.

Bush was turned down twice about going to Vietnam. This is old, move on.

Not enough guts to protest the war, nor enough to go and put his butt on the line in the trenches.

It's revisionist history that supports whatever it is that he wants to do at the current time. BTW, the person he quoted is mad because "The Decider" twisted his words. Imagine . . .

With the lack of refrigeration in Vietnam back then he decided he'd better stay where he can keep his beer cold......

This is the question all reasonable people are asking. This further demonstrates that he has no shame. Draft dodging... Awol.... and substance abuse are all acceptable as far as your name is GWB.

He's a chicken hawk, just like most of his cabinet. As a veteran, I am repulsed by these guys.
