There's a lot of meaning on "WHEN".
Here are few examples on:
'When':
At what time. e.g. When did he leave?. I know when to say nothing.
At the time that: e.g. When he came here.
While: e.g. When I was abroad.
Even though: e.g. He bought it when he was told not to.
Considering that: e.g. Why walk when you have a car?.
And then: e.g. He waited until dark, when he unwillingly went home.
At which: e.g. At the moment when he arrived
