I recently borrowed and watch its vcd.

Were those Japanese that exploded themselves by bombs (in committing suicide honorably) realistic as I wonder weren't bombs suppose to devastate those around them?

I find little or no bayonet to bayonet fighting esp. when the Japanese ran out of ammunitions at the last days.

Shrapnel from grenades are mostly localized, but yes indeed, those around them would be effected to. I thought the film was in at least the top ten war time movies of all time. The acting was great....better than Windtalkers about the same battle.

Very interesting movie. Yes, the Japanese committed suicide rather then dishonoring themselves, their family and their emperor by surrendering. Suggest a book to read it is call "Flyboys" and it is not about the movie which was about World War 1.

Yes it is a fantastic and touching movie. It is also very important because it finally shows the situation from the perspective of the "bad guys".
