In rare cases it's a disease, but for the most part it's how we've been brought up by our parents. I blame my overweight on my dad. He was head injured and couldn't tell when to stop eating. So he would often eat all our food. So i got used to always eating all my food instead of stopping when i was fool.

Definitely a choice and infrequently a disease. There are studies that show a genetic disposition. However, in most cases it is our choice to be. I know in my case (550 plus pounds) and my wife's case (350 pounds), we made a choice to be fat becuase we like the way we are and love the our size. When we married over 15 years ago, we were both much lighter - me at 250 and she at 150. However, we both like to eat and cook and we both liked each other fat. Over the years we gained and gained. Many may not agree with our choice but it is our to make.

probably a bit of both. I believe it's a mix of a predisposition to being fat, and the compensation of emotional trauma with food. Then there's a cycle that starts, they have low self esteem cuz they're fat, so they eat to make themselves feel better because they probably feel like "im fat anyways so what difference does it make" and food is comforting to them, so they get bigger, lose more self esteem and after a while they're so fat they can't even walk anymore, but people still deliver them food because they throw fits and people don't want to get sat on so they do it out of fear. It's all quite f*cked up but true none the less unfortunately.

It's never a disease, and it's only sometimes a choice.
There's a difference between a disease and a genetic condition, folks.

I think there is a genetic predisposition for obesity, however, I believe that lethargy begins the cycle.

sometimes, it could be inherited... but most of the time it is a choice but some people say it isn't their fault..... I'm working my fat off because it was my fault for eating too much, now I control how much I eat and I have lost twenty pounds up to now!!!
Yay me!

I believe that for some it is genetic, and for others, it is by choice.
