In addition, there are no returning starters at WR and RB. Yes, most of the D is back but too much has been lost. Enjoy your Citrus Bowl!

Matt Flynn will step up like he did against Miami in the Peach Bowl a couple of years ago. With an offensive guard that is 6'7" and 371 pounds, he'll get plenty of protection. They also have one of the fastest tailbacks in the nation. Their defense will give them plenty of opportunities. USC can talk about their defensive starters returning but when they gave up so many points last year, I can't see where that is anything to brag about.

I am a LSU fan and do believe they are overrated at this time. But what teams you would rank higher than LSU. I would say Florida, West Virginia and maybe Texas arguably could be.

Jamarcus was just talented and Bowe was a special receiver but the running game and defense is LSU's claim to fame. This QB has experience and the O line is strong. If the defense stays strong they have a good chance as usual at least as good of a chance as USC.

LSU might make it to the championship, but they are definitely overrated at the moment. Yes, they will have a very good defense, but where is their offense going to come from??? Let's see their new quarterback in a few more games before we leap to say that he can fill the shoes of JaMarcus Russell.

Fortunately (for LSU fans), they play Virginia Tech, Florida, Auburn, and Arkansas at home. If they drop just one game, they might still have a chance at the national championship. USC, however, ought to win all their games. Texas, Michigan, and West Virginia remain strong contenders and could possibly win all their games as well (although I would be annoyed at a USC-Michigan rematch in New Orleans, since USC already dominated them last year in the Rose Bowl). Can LSU make it to the BCS title game? Perhaps. Will they? Let's wait and see if they can generate offense first...

Cause they are smoking some good stuff down there in Bayou land. Probably the same stuff all the Cowboys fans are smoking.

Kinda gotta agree with the first guy. Yep LSU thumped Notre Dame. Big Surprise there. But Russell beat Quinn? I never actually saw them play each other. I did see Russell standing safely behind his very good O-line have plenty of time to pick apart a lousy ND defense. I believe most High School QBs could have done the same.

As for Quinn, he had an average of 2 seconds to try to make a play against the 3rdd ranked defense in the NCAA, playing behind one of the worst O-lines in division I. So lets not take away from either player till we see how they do as Pros.

But LSU has no clearcut romping leader this season, and as SEC fans are soooo fond of reminding us, this is the toughest conference in football.........So I hope they don't mind being second rate, behind Teams like Florida, Georgia and Arkansas

jamarcus russell wasnt even the best qb on the team last year. matt flynn was mvp of the peach bowl as a sophomore. matt flynn is a first round draft pick in april. jamarcus russell wasnt the lsu team last year. i think florida lost a whole lot more than lsu and the sec is the toughest conference in the nation. anybody who comes out of the sec with at least one loss deserves to play for the national title.

I've been asking myself why all the hype for LSU.. I honestly don't think they are even the most talented team in the West.. granted they have a decent Defense but by years end I think it'll be the #2 defense in the SEC West.. the team to beat in my on that side of the conference hasn't changed in my opinion.. Auburn still has more talent and depth.. but people keep trying to point to 4 road games like it means something.. here's fact.. in Div 1 football over the last 3 years no team is better on the road than Auburn.. 11-1.. only 2 schools have better winning percentages period.. (Texas and USC).. also.. returning 8 starters on a very roudy defense that shut down LSU last year won't hurt either.. a Senior QB with 2 years as a starter returns.. 2 proven RB's in Tate and Lester return.. Cole Bennett returns to TE from an injury last season.. and probably the most raw talent in the SEC at WR in Dunn, Smith, Rodriguez, Hawthorne, Swinton and Zachary.. the only real question marks on this team are the O-Line (who will play solid.. Auburn always has solid O-Lines).. and the Kicking game.. which Auburn has led the SEC in kicking since I think 2000.. granted Cox was injured in 2006 and for a change Auburn didn't lead the SEC in total Offense for the first time since 2003 but I don't expect that trend to continue under Borges... and that is what LSU has to go through to get to the BCS.. throw in Florida and Virginia Tech.. and with a new Offensive Coordinator??? please.. and LSU isn't going anywhere but the Capitol One Bowl.. 10-2 for LSU and they watch the "real" Tigers of the SEC play in the BCS games... ESPN 6:15 CST Sept 1st it'll be on display when Auburn educates Kansas St

I don't think they'll make it past Virginia Tech. They are highly overrated. The best player they have on their team is DT, Glenn Dorsey. Don't get me wrong; I think the Tigers' defense is probably one of the top few in the country, but they don't have the offense to balance it out. In addition, LSU has to make it past Florida to get to a title game, and that's not going to happen.

i do no longer possibly care. generally it rather is by using fact of Nick Saban and he's related to the two communities. besides the fact that if, i won't be in a position to no longer root for somebody so i'm going to pass with Alabama by using fact they lost the 1st game and that i like pink.

No returning starters ? Early Doucet, 59 rec and 772 yards. Matt Flynn at QB has proven he can get the job done. Like you mentioned their D. Their defense very well may be just as if not better than USC.
