My mom has a 2nd offense DUI in august 2005. She was assigned to AA and was supposed to get her license taken away for a year. When that date finally came the DMV claimed that they didn't get a copy of the records for the AA class. They wouldn't take her copy so the AA office had to send it again. 6 months later they received it but the AA office claimed she didn't come to a few meetings (at that time the leader would tell people to go ahead and go home and not worry about it) therefore they revoked her license again. It is now 2 years later and they are now claiming that she owes the class $900 because she went to the wrong class day. Nobody informed her that she was going the wrong day. Do you believe this is fair the way they are treating her. She was only supposed to lose her license for a year and 2 years later they still won't let her get it back until she pays $900.

The person in charge of the roster would sometimes have people sign in and leave and even tell them not to come and that he would take care of it.

I think there are some facts missing here. Most AA mandatory classes have a roster of the people who are required to be there. The person must sign in at each meeting. If she was not on the list, she would have been told.

wow....lots of excuses being thrown here....wonder if you are getting bad information from your mom, or if your not telling us the whole story - is your mom a severe alcoholic? did she not complete the ENTIRE AA class? is she trying to get out of fufilling the courtrs order by stating that other groups or people are screwing her information up. sounds like some vital information is missing.....maybe you should check your facts.

I could be wrong also!

It is absolutely fair, and normal. Your mother should be more responsible. It is HER JOB to make certain that she is doing what she is supposed to do. It is HER JOB to make certain that AA keeps appropriate records and forwards them correctly. Lack of responsibility is what got her in trouble in the first place. Obviously, she still doesn't have any responsibility.
