It's all about the hormone level. HCG is the hormone that is indicative of pregnancy, it's what the test looks for in your urine. Every woman secretes different levels. The levels are dependent upon the actual date of conception. And the concentration it is found in the urine can vary - if you drink a lot of water, your urine is diluted and the test is less likely to detect it, which is why they tell you in the instructions to use first morning urine - you haven't emptied your bladder overnight and the HCG has time to become concentrated, making the test more likely to detect the hormone.

Depends on what your HcG levels are. It's the "pregnancy hormone" and it is produced at certain levels throughout the pregnancy - starts out low and then increases greatly as the pregnancy progresses on.

Very early on in pregnancy many womens bodies are not producing enough of the hormone for a test to detect. So if you are feeling very pregnant and have missed a period, then
consider yourself pregnant and take good care of yourself and all the necessary precautions, and test again later.

Or you might ask for a scan or pelvic exam and sometimes the doctor can find a pregnancy that way.

All the best to you.

I think that pregnancy test work by the hormones in your urine. The levels change when you are pregnant. Sometimes you get a negative result if your hormones havn't changed significantly yet.

hope this helps :)
