Def. Carters brand. You can find them most anywhere and they are 100% cotton. They are very durable and they have a lot of variety. They also seem to have sales on Carters a lot. I also like Old Navy, I think they are very affordable, cute, and extremely durable. Places like the Gap and Gymboree as well as Children's Place are very nice and when they have sales you can really find some great stuff, otherwise they are way too expensive.

Circo brand at Target rocks. Separates cost only $3.99, last really well, and are cute. The only problem is that there isn't enough variety. I pick up whatever I can.
Carter's brand is probably the best overall. They are a little more expensive, but they are always nice.
Anything Gerber has to be WAY sized up. The clothes are so small, it's ridiculous. When my baby was a preemie, I could put her in regular newborn Gerber clothes.
Save Gymboree and Baby Gap for that one cute picture outfit. Your baby outgrows clothes so fast, it's not worth it to buy this stuff when you can find things just as cute for less.

I really have found that Carters brand is the most durable. It can be a bit pricey so I tend to look for sales. In addition, Childrens Place has really nice things, but is also pricey. Child of Mine, which is sold at Walmart stores, is made by Carters and it is really nice. Old Navy has really nice things that are quite cheap at times. If you can't tell, I love shopping for my baby! ;)

Carter's baby stuff and Gap and Old Navy toddler and kids clothes (for boys anyway) without a doubt! My oldest is 8, and he's handed down almost all of his clothes from Gap or Old Navy to his younger brother. Then, I sold most of them on ebay.
So for example, I bought a t-shirt at Old Navy for $5, TWO boys wore it, and I sold it on ebay for $1.99. That's a GREAT return on my investment (even without the ebay part).
I've not had the same luck with Wal-Mart at all (personally, I think most of their stuff is junk), Target is just so-so (good for one kid, but usually doesn't pass the hand-me-down test). Children's Place stuff is pretty good, but I find their sizes to be a bit off.
Hope that helps!

Gymoboree, it is a little more expensive but you can hit the sales racks or shop on ebay. They last forever! I have girls clothes that have went through three girls and they still look brand new!

There are so many. The Children's Place, GAP etc. That's why I shop on Ebay. I let someone else pay the high price, wear them a few times and I get a bargain =)
