Im 37 weeks, I go to the doctor every week, but since Im having a c-sec, they dont check to see if Im dilated. I just thought they would still check me so I would know. Is that normal? Do you think I could asked to be checked? Cause I have tons of pain and pressure down there.

It's not necessary since the baby will be delivered surgically. The exam would not only be invasive, but an extra expense for you. Even if they did check you and found you were dilated (which many women are in the weeks leading up to labor) it won't make a difference. The only red flag would be if you started having contractions or your water broke. Then I would assume they would do an emergency c-section, that is if you are getting one for a medical reason (and not just convenience, I hope?).

The pain and pressure is very normal, as long as it is not regular like contractions. Expect to continue to feel that in the coming weeks.

Pain and pressure is normal, unless the pains come and go at regular intervals (contractions) or if accompanied by bleeding. And no, there is no reason to check you, no medical benefit in knowing. Every cervical exam introduces risk for infection. If you were 3cm it would make no difference - I sat at 3cm for several weeks without going into labor. If you go into labor, they will section you right away.

You can ask to be checked, but chances are they won't check you only to satisfy curiosity.

Good luck, and congrats in advance!

Honestly, I would ask to be checked. Mention the pain and pressure, and it shouldnt be a problem. Good luck!!

Well if you are having a schedualed c-section then there is really no point in checking you. For one it could introduce bacteria and two, there is absolutly no point in it, you wont be giving birth vaginaly.

Good luck to you

are you haveing a CS because of complications?
