See, Common Sense tells us that it will make a sound, regardless if there's anyone there to hear it.

But, the thing is, scientifically, nothing can be counted as true unless it's proven. SO...You can't prove that it made any sound, because nobody heard it.

(Recording it doesn't count either.)

So that's what the question means. It's not about vibrations and the definition of sound, etc.

:D

PS: To the Pandaness---if a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to here it, it means NO ONE.

no it doesn't make a sound it will make vibrations which when they hit the ear drum they create more vibration which create electrical impluses which are then enterpretated by the brain as what we know as sound. however if an other creature is present at the time of the fall tree which is capable of inturpting vibrations in the brian then it does make a sound. in conclusion to answer this question you need to know what else is in the facinity. The better question to ask (of similar debate) is how do we know what a truely deserted area looks like?

If a tree falls in a forest yet there is no one there to hear it, the falling tree 'a priori' makes a noise even if there is no one there to hear it.

Inductively, since we know that a falling tree always makes a noise, it can be safely assumed that when a tree falls in a forest, 'a priori' a noise will be made.

It depends on how you define "a sound."

The tree would create waves of compressed air that would be heard by anyone or anything if they were there, but if you define a sound as something that is heard, then you need someone there to hear it.

If an age-old question gets asked on an Internet forum 6 000 times, does it strengthen the validity of the opinion of the person who is only asking so they can answer it?

Of course there is sound there !

God knows, sees, hears everything ! So does our Creator Father-Son Jesus and our Holy Creative Spirit, and many lesser Sons and Angels and Beings of God.

That's exactly what I said. Plus, my 8th Grade Science teacher proved it to us a while back ! He told us that from it falling it causes vibration and vibration causes sound. Pretty interesting.
