The difference is the speed of your network and the range it has within your home. It has nothing to do with the actual speed of your exteranl internet connection, that is determined by your ISP.

Having a N router is faster than a G router in accessing files across your internal WAN--Wireless Area Network. It does speed things up once the packets enter your network past your Router. Once in your personal network things speed up considerably. However, because the distance between your router and your computer or other network nodes this speed difference is not really noticable when serfing or downloading from the Net. It really shows up when exchanging files within your local network or uploading files to portable devices, etc.

Hope this helps explain it for you. Good luck and have a great weekend.
