I am from India so i dont know much about Cent. I just know that it is a 1/100th part of a dollar. But when we talk about percentage i have come to the following conclusion. May not be logically correct but just an attempt to solve.

Here goes my solution:

Cent means Hundred.
Cent Per Cent = 100% (Hundred Percent, or One Hundred for every One Hundred)
=100/100
=1

So,
50 Cent per Cent = 50 times Hundred for every One hundred
=5000 for every 100
=100/5000=0.02
=2 per cent (Two per Hundred)

So 50 Cent means 2%.

50 cents means 50 pennies , NOT % .

% is a fraction relationship so you need

50 divided by something .

Like 50 cents off a regular price of $3 would be
50 / 300 = about 17 % .

50 cents by itself is NO % .

Depends. 50 cents of what... 1 dollar, 2 dollars, 5? be more specific.
