I'm going into 8th grade, and when I go to high school I want to try out for cross country. I'm already a pretty good sprinter, and I'm an average miler (9-minute miles).
Does anyone have tips on how to get better so I can make the team?

Well, I guess you could go jogging in the morning to build up your stamina and your endurance. The more you run, the more milage you could handle. There are probably cross country clubs where you can go and practice but not actually for the team. Practice running there and then apply for the team. Baby steps I guess.

Run as much as you can, I suppose. I don't know if it is like this everywhere, but here in CA a cross country race is 3 miles. I think for practices they run more than that. If you are already running 1 mile, you should slowly work up to running more. You won't need to worry about sprinting unless you also want to do track and field.

It may vary from school to school, but at my high school they let everyone on the team who wanted to do it.

9 minute mile isnt really average its sorta slow. sry. if ur a good sprinter maybe u should try track and field cus crosscountry is more long distance. but in crosscountry for hs u run 3 miles and an average time is 25min. so time urself when you run three miles.
i dont think there are tryouts for crosscountry only pratices. well at least at my school there aren't.

you can must purchase the jacket. more often than not faculties handiest deliver you the letter. and sure, move nation is a varsity recreation. so assuming you take part and meet the entire staff specifications (i.e., train, run in parties, cheer on others, and so on.) you could get a varsity letter. I say staff specifications, in view that in my prime college a minimum of, freshman would not get a varsity letter their first 12 months except met a unique standards. I can not recollect what that used to be regardless that.
