Three things:
1) Take a bike to parks; the exercise is a natural mood-lifter and you will feel better and your perspectives will be better. It is good physically and mentally.
2) Get a dog; having a dog makes you feel so much better, and you can go for walks at a local park or beach which gets you to meet people. I have a dog and I practically know the whole neighbourhood (and some cute guys). A great chick-magnet for you.
3) If you can, and if it's work-related, bring a laptop computer to a nice coffee place and do some work, or go just to browse the aisles. A lot of good and sometimes single people go there, and who knows, you might happen to catch an eye on someone. If you have no money, go to a library and check out the free computers for dating ideas or something (there are places to meet single people like singles club).
Good luck!

Pick yourself up and try again. Make an effort to smile at yourself in the mirror. Tell yourself that today is a new, better day. Start loving and accepting yourself. Give yourself a present to cheer yourself up. Something small, like your favorite meal or a cookie. It will make you smile. Take your misfortune as a life lesson: learn from it. Don't ever feel sorry for yourself please: it is a waste of time. And then start making plans on rebuilding your life: find a job and go from there. It will be all right, you will see.
Remember: there are a lot of people in this world, who have it much worse than you do.

There was a time when I had no friends, family, money and a car. I was so happy. I still am but that's besides the point. When I had nothing, I still had me. I can walk, talk, think for myself, dream, I was granted a life whereas someone, somewhere was not. I had me and in those times by myself I toured America on foot and learned so much about other people. I worked on ranches, farms, and it was a great feeling knowing that I had myself to count upon and no one else to try and drag me down. I went to work in Alaska (got the Hell scared out of me by the waves and storms on the Bering Sea.) and I learned something about the Inuit tribes up north. It was fun.
People spend their whole lives wasting away with cell phones, IPhones, lap tops, technology left and right but never really going out to see what's out there and what they can learn.
There is a whole universe in front of your nose. All you have to do is find it and experience it.
