I Understand every body is gonna say because we kill chickens, cows and etc for mankind or what ever but look at this dog fighting is illegal rite? and slaughtering animals on farms isn't rite? but what they both have in common is animals are being killed and you can't change that only difference is one is illegal and one is not. but then again you're forcing animals to fight on farms they just killed and get their money from the market. so what you're telling me is i can go hunting for deers (which is an animal) and kill it and eat it and don't go to jail regardless if i have a liscense or not. only way some people will accept the fact that animals are killed every llegally and illegally, so if dog fighing wasn't illegal then there would be no problem rite? Free Vick!!!!

Does that mean you'd eat a dogmeat burger? Vick was hired by the Falcons in 2001, and he is STILL being referred to in terms of his "potential". He has plenty of tools but a quarterback's biggest tool is inside his skull. #7 has always been lacking in that area, as this turn of events proves.

Dog fighting is brutal. The dogs are often times tortured to get the proper fighting mentality and guess what? When a dog is hurt they don't bring it to the vet. The manner in which Vick killed the dogs is also unacceptable, perhaps shooting the thing in the head would have been a far better out come for an animal with such a tortured life. Farm animals are a wicked tradition that will surely never change. But dog fighting is something that should never be tollerated.

Thats a vast over simplification. The animals on the farms being killed are for food. They're not being tortured and abused to make them meaner so they can kill other chickens and cows. And yelling to free Vick is just absurd. He had over 100 million in contracts he'd already signed, which is pretty good for a qb who couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. He knew that Dog fighting is illegal. He also knew that no sports league puts up with any connection with illegal gambling. He risked 9 figures for what? an illegal dog fighting ring? The brutality of the crime aside, he's gotta be the dumbest man I've ever heard of. And look up indefinite will you? he's not banned for life- it means they're deciding how long the suspensions gonna be.

Vick is going to jail primarily because he started an illegal gambling ring. Betting on anykind of animal fighting is illegal (ex. cock-fighting which are chickens) Hunting without a license is also illegal.

Vick killed the animals because they were weak, unaggressive, and couldn't 'illegally' win fights for him. Farmers kill animals so they can feed you and me. Big difference. There won't be any fried chicken for you to chew on if farmers didn't killed the chickens.

Plus the farmers give the animals a good life before they kill them and feed you with it.

Vick tortured the animals and gave them a gruesome death - hanging then drowning. If you can't see the difference here and see what Vick has done wrong there is something seriously wrong with you.

It's one thing to support someone because you believe what he/she did was right and it's another thing to support someone simply because you're in denial that a person you know and love has done something wrong.

Dogfighting is illegal so this is a stupid argument. We eat meat, and most cows won't walk up to you and slaughter themselves, and filet themselves for your pleasure. Food animals are killed and slaughtered as fast and humanely as possible. Dog that fight, however, spend a lifetime being taught to kill, never being allowed to just be a dog, and then after doing what it was forced to do illegally, often killed quite cruelly while suffering with wounds that were inflicted during a fight to the death.
Now the other problem, that you so conveniently forgot to mention is that Vick admittedly bankrolled the bets in the dogfights. Even if he says that he didn't take of the prizemoney, he still put up the bet money. Game over. Lifetime ban in place still.
Then there is the little problem that Vick was a lousy quarterback. Lifetime QB rating 75.7. Most teams would cut that lousy of a quarteback, but Blank was making tons of money with Vick, so he held onto him, knowing that the dirty birds would never be able to win a Super Bowl with Vick at QB.

This country decided long ago that killing of dogs in such a purpose is illegal. Furthermore, this country decided some time ago killing livestock such as pigs, cows, and chickens is acceptable. Hunting of certain animals was decided to be legal if done within the regulations of the conservation department. These are the laws of our society. Vick broke the laws of our society. These laws still have meaning to the majority of Americans because those in Congress that make the laws still support them. So, now Vick must serve his time. I would like to see him get the same treatment as the dogs he fought. We should put him in a grudge match with other criminals so we can bet on the victor. If he loses then we should execute him. However, the laws of our society do not allow such a punishment. So, now he'll do his couple months of jail and some community service then be back on the field like nothing happened.

Now if you disagree with this, I invite you to run for political office under the "I want to legalize dog fighting" platform. Let me know if you get more than 2 votes.

First of all, if you go hunting for deer, kill one, and eat it, and you don't have a license..you WILL go to jail. So that premise of yours is incorrect. So is the reasoning for all your other arguments flawed. There is no point in anyone trying to point out to you HOW they are flawed, because reason is not one of your strong points, obviously. Now, get this....dog fighting IS illegal. Therein lies the problem. This person you are screaming to be freed is a criminal. He knew what he did was illegal and he did it anyway. That adds up to criminal. The fact that the crime was against an animal instead of a human doesn't make him less guilty. If dregs like that are you heroes and role model, so be it.

Micheal Vick did not kill dogs because the meat from them is needed for eating, he killed dogs because he would bet money on them and they would lose, so I guess he figured that the dog wasnt tortured enough just from being in the fight so he wet the dog down and electricuted it. Thats just one instance, he did things like this repeatedly. The man is a multi millionaire but he lost $13,000 on a illegal dog fight so that gives him the right to torture these dogs? He makes millions of dollars legally, so why does he need to try to make a few thousand illegaly? Bottom line is he didnt do it for the money, he didnt do it because he need the meat from the dogs, he did it because he is a sick person. I think he deserves whatever punishment he gets and then some.

There are many difference you are failing to consider:
1) Ranchers (not farmers) raise 'feed' animals, meaning they are produced for the sole purpose of food (very legal way to make a living). These are not raise to fight for the gambling addictions and entertainment of humans (very illegal).
2) Hunting of any kind is needed to manage wildlife. Hunting thins out herds and flocks and also improves suitable habitat and food not to mention reducing the risk of infection diseases. Also if you hunt without a license you could not only do jail time, pay a fine, but you can also lose your vehicle, guns, equipment as a result.

Vick knowing engaged in many illegal activities. He violated several state and federal laws. He got caught. Now he and his fans need to quit whining, except his punishment, and move on.

First of all, you are so ignorant to the real issue here it is disturbing. Farming and hunting are for different reasons than dog fighting. Farming and hunting are for food. MOST hunters and farmers use their animals they harvest for the good of their family or others. Dog fighting is for "betting" on the winner. Never mind the fact that we are talking about a millionaire who just threw away 83 million dollars because he felt the need to bet e few thousand on dog fighting. Either he's stupid or dumb...either way he's a horrible role model. People like you are the reason laws like this are passed.

What a nutty question! Plain and simple, pitting animals against each other in a fight, often to the point of death, is illegal in civilized countries.

Animals are done away with in a humane manner because you can not have 9000 dogs (or cats) infesting one's property. They go feral very quickly, and especially in the case of dogs are a hazard to human life, especially that of young children. I have killed kittens, and no I am not proud of the fact, but my aunt's barn was being overrun with cats, and they needed culling. Trust me you can not get your hands on a feral cat, and if you go catch it in a trap, watch out!! Vick had these dogs strictly for his own sick form of entertainment.
On the other hand we had dogs and cats on the farm for a reason, and the ones we kept were well looked after as far as farm animals go. They were fed, kept warm, and in return provided us with a service. They certainly were not abused or thrown into a ring to tear each other to shreads. This turd, and all of his ilk, needs to go to jail for a lengthy period.
