system restore is the first method of turning your p.c back 24 hours, this is done by going start>programs>accesories>system tools>system restore
then choose the day before close as you can to 24 hours ago, then click next, you will then see a report of your chosen restore,if your happy with that click next to initialize the restore procedure, this can take between 2 and 10 minutes depending on how long ago your restore point was created
windows will restart when finished restoring and when it loads again a message will appear before you go to the desktop, click ok and your restored desktop will appear
basically after every windows session we shut down xp,which then saves the settings for that particullar session, these are saved and may be sued for system restore, these are known as restore points
these can also be created by yourself, just go to the system restore program and select "create restore point" and then windows will save that moment in time ,you need to name that such as "when i downloaded spiderman" or something similar
you can also delete all your restore points by going to start>control apnel>system properties>system restore>tick turn off system restore and then restart your p.c
upon restart remember to re-enable system restore,by going there and unticking the same box and then restart the p.c again all though this isnt nessecary, but i like to do it
note:you acn change the amount of space used by system restore by moving the slider in system properties>system restore>move slider
the most you can use is 12.5% of your total capacity or one eighth of your hard drive, however if hard drive space is an issue move this to 10%,this will free up some needed space and wont affect your restore function that much
i hope this helps
good luck mate!

System Restore.

Goto... Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

System restore doesn't work it only works if you made a system restore point, the pc doesn't make one for you.

Go to control panel, system, system restore--then restore it to one of the dates in bold type. Thats if you have XP.
