Both of my harddrives were detected after I set looked through the BIOS. I built this computer myself. I booted from the disk and I had no hard drive to install to. Any idea why ?

Someone suggested only having one harddrive connected while I try this.

Thanks !

I know why. It's because Vista sucks and it's full of fail.

Stick to WinXP for now man, seriously. No need for Vista and all its hype and "cool" graphics. It's just one VERY buggy operating system.

Newer motherboards handle SATA drives as IDE devices.

Older motherboards you need a driver floppy that you use at the very beginning of the Windoze install process.

Did you run the Microsoft upgrade adviser first?

After that, I would seriously consider waiting for at least the first SP to come out.

I never, never buy a Microsoft product until after the first SP is released.

There may not be enough memory left on the hardrive. Vista takes up alot of memory. I did myself. Try backing up your files somewhere off your computer and delete them off your computer afterwards. This should leave enough space.

If you havent opened vista--take it back to the store. I have it and its not as good as XP. Maybe when they come out with a service pack it will be ok--until then dont hurry to get it.
