They live in Indiana and want to adopt 3 children. What are their chances?

No, I don't think they have a personal connection, she just wants to have a family of her own, that's why they got married.

My friend has a good job, he just gets extreme motion sickness in a car. His wife needs the help of an assistance dog, she also can't lift heavy things.

They talk like they want to do it without public assistance.

I'd like to say that the chances are fair. There is no reason that a person with a disability should not be able to adopt. After all, many people with disabilities have children of their own. However, if both parents have disabilities, then that could change things. If they are adopting internationally then they will surely have to answer health questions. Many countries decline adoptions if there are serious and ongoing health issues with the parents.

But I still say its not out of the question. These two people need to educate themselves and explore all the possibilities. Look at adopting both international and domestic. And maybe look at becoming foster parents too.

They will face roadblocks . But maybe they will still be able to do it if they work for it and make changes to their living situation if need be. Why do they have to adopt three children? Maybe they could just set the goal of adopting one and then see what happens after that.

Morally and ethically speaking I see no problem whatsoever with disabled parents adopting. There is so much to parenthood that is not physical. And after all, there are plenty of parents who are perfectly physically fit and they are TERRIBLE parents.

I wish your friends the best of luck!

Well disabled people can adopt children....and not being able to drive is a minor thing...not life threatening...and people do manage without driving a car! If blind people can adopt children, then so can your friends. Most people figure out how to manage. If they aren't too limiting as to race, etc...they probably have a good chance....or maybe could take children who have conditions of their own....because many people will only take a "perfect" child....so there are many needy children out there that need parents to love them.

There are people who have adopted a lot more than 3 needy children, and have a great family!

Their chances are not good. Do they have a personal connection to these 3 children? If so, that could help.
But adoption courts and personnel have to place the well-being of the children first. With their medical disabilities, can they prove they can provide for the children and meet their needs?
We raised our 4 children, and at times it was hectic with both of us healthy and active.
