I never wanted earrings until I lost my hair to chemotherapy and became desparate to look 'girlie' again - by which time my immune system so was so weakened I couldn't do it. Getting an infection would have been too dangerous to risk.

I got my latest blood results back today, my immune system is a lot better, and my oncologist agreed that if I want to do it, now would be a good time so they are well on their way to healing before I have my next chemo cycle.

So:
How much will it hurt (compared to say waxing or bloodwork)?
Is it best to get them done together or one at a time?
Is it best to get them 'gunned' or done with a needle at a body piercing studio?
If I go for the gun, do purple (I like that colour) or blue (my eye colour) studs look nicest?

earrings to me hurt a lot less than waxing or bloodwork, get them together, you might have trouble sleeping on them since they will be sore for a couple of days, but they will heal quick and the discomfort will be gone. the piercing gun is a lot quicker and less stressful than a needle, and if you are wanting to look more girly, go for the purple, blue is mainly a male oriented color. but if you have gone through cancer, and chemo, congratulations to you, i applaud you. so get whatever color you like best

I have only gotten mine done with a gun (all six, three per ear), but that was when I was younger. I wouldn't get them done with a gun again, it's not good for your ears. Especially if it's the cartilage. because a gun can crack the cartilage. I'd avoid them all together.

as to your question, if it hurts, not really. I would compare it with getting a sharp brief pinch. I didn't even feel the studs go into my ear. All I felt was the gun pinching the back on. and that was the pinch.

Get them done together! Why not?

blue and purple are my favorite colours, so hard choice, but whatever you choose will look great, no doubt.

Please don't go get it done w/a gun at some sheisty place like claires or piercing pagoda. The people working there have NO idea what they're doing and they don't have the proper training or knowledge to be poking holes in people. Go find a good piercing shop and get it done there, you'll cut your risk of getting an infection big time! Ge 'em done one at a time. The pain isn't too bad. It feels like a quick sharp pinch and then it's all over. Good luck w/your piercings and chemo!

hello well i have my ears peirced 4 on one side 3 on the other to tell you the truth yes it does hurt but not like real bad its just a quick sting then thats it i suggest you get the gun its so much easier and that way you can get them both done at the same time to give you an example my daughters have there ears peirced twice on each side my eldest was 2 at the time and the youngest was 5 months and lol yes they did cry but straight after they stopped its just a really quick sting. and im very sure any color would look good on you but just remember your not stuck with that one color when it heals you can change colors all the time
good luck

I went to Claires at the mall and I got my ears "gunned". It doesn't hurt at all for me and I am usually very scared and can hurt very easily. They basically feel like someone touching your ear. They pierced my ears one at a time. I think this way is better because it is more professional and so it will not likely lead to infection. They also give you bottles of sanitizers to clean your ears everyday at home. Those don't hurt either. They just feel like water and they don't sting. I think purple would be nice because they look more girly (if you're going for that look) and they shine.

I've heard the guns can be dirty and it's safest to go to a place that uses a needle. I would say to have them done one at a time. It doesn't hurt bad, if you pinch your earlobes with your fingernails you can tell there isn't much feeling in them. After they may feel a little hot and itchy but only for a couple days. They should tell you to clean them with salt water daily or something to help them heal and to keep infection away. I think any color is fine but shoud be something that goes with most of your wardrobe.

I'm sorry to hear about your illness. God Bless You!
I would suggest the gun method. Very quick and painless.
As for earrings style. After the initiation process, I recommend the small to medium size gold hoops to give you a girly look. Whenever I pull my hair back into a bun or ponytail, my hoops give me a feminine look, but the studs rarely show out.
Take care,
Good Luck!

I got my ears peirced twice, with a gun and it dosen't actually hurt at all. If you do go for the gun, which i recommend that you do, I would go for whatever colour stud you usually wear the most, because then it will always match and if you really can't choose go for silver, because it matches everything. Good Luck.

dont worry hun.
getting ur earlobes done doesnt hurt barely at all.its like getting poked.i would go for the gun however becuz it a little less painless then the needle and blue would look nice but purple is a very girlie color so it doesnt matter on that.

I didn't think it hurt very much. especially compared to bloodwork. I would say get them both done at the same time. Have them do it with the little gun they have. It is quicker & less painful i think. Go with the blue. I think they will look good with your eyes.
