I'm in college and our student health center is only open Monday through Friday and Sundays if it is urgent. Idk if a bladder infection is urgent so it could be Monday after my classes that I get to even see a doctor. I am in so much pain Idk what to do. I really don't think I can stand this pain until Monday and I'm worried that it could get worse? Is there anything I could get at like a CVS without a perscription to reliave the pain or make my bladder infection better? I'm desperate! Please help!

I've been having them since I was very young, so I sympathize.

If you can't get to your doc right away, get UroStat from the drugstore (it's an OTC). Tylenol and a warm bath will help with some of the pain. Try not to stress yourself physically or push hard in the bathroom (I know that's gross). Get to your doctor as soon as possible because left untreated, a bladder infection can cause serious longterm problems.

In the future:

1. if you get them often, ask your doc for an open perscription (some do this, some don't. doesn't hurt to ask)
2. drink cran juice regularly. yogurt & tea are also good all-around choices for diet
3. exercise regularly
4. if you're sexually active, practice safe sex

I'm in the US, but if you go to a pharmacy they have, here, anyway, over-the-counter drugs that specifically help that pain. Problem is, it can screw up the results of your test on Monday. You chould NOT wait to get it treated though. That can go to your kidneys fast and that is SERIOUS. Anyway, for the discomfort there is something called Uristat. Prescription, it's something like, Peridium. Drinking lots of cranberry juice will help to restore the correct acidity to the urine. Drinking lots of water will also help flush your system. You can get cranberry capsules at the drug store or health food store, too. Especially if you can't stand cranberry juice. The cranberry juice should have as much real juice in it as possible. Here a good brand is Northland. Soaking in a warm tub with lots of white vinegar mixed in the water can help tghe discomfort, too. But you NEED to get to an urgent care clinic or something today, and get on the proper antibiotic. Good luck!

Well, i have had bladder and urinary infections my whole life due to a deformity in my bladder stem. Someone once told me to drink a beer or two. I used to drink cranberry juice but beer works better. I don't even like beer, but it is excellent for a bladder infection. Plus, stay off the Cokes, Pepsi etc.. and drink lots of water. No sex, it will only breed more bacteria. But see a doctor a soon as you can, if it is that painful you probably need antibiotics.

go to your local clinic to get a urine culture done. bacterias take up to 24-48 hours to grow, and then get tested (the bacterias) to see whats the best antibiotic to prescribe. so, go see a doctor right away and you'll get some antibiotics (most of bladder infections are caused by E. coli). if this antibiotic doesn't work, the doc will you, based on the lab report what else you can take.

so since the testing is not the immediate answer, do it right away so you can get the results faster and be free of your pain.

as said earlier, cranberry juice IS good for bladder infection due to its acidity. but, im not sure if it ll cure it, or just make it tolerable.

Get real (not diluted) cranberry juice and start drinking. Also drink lots! of water. That is about all you can do. If your symptoms don't get better in a few days you should still go to the doctor. In the future, make sure you always use a toilet seat cover and also, be very selective about your sexual partners, as their germs will transfer to you during intercourse.

Since cranberry juice taste awful (does to me) try drinking lots of water every day. I also put lemon in my water since water is so bland.

The main culprit with bladder infections are sodas...stay away from them. If you need caffeine, try tea, it has lots of water, and it doesn't have carbonation.
