I recently sent away for a free Rosetta Stone CD that was advertised on TV. It's great and it gives me a preview of how they teach the languages they offer. Italian is one of their choices. Check it out and see if it will work for you, before you contemplate other programs. I chose Chinese and it was very reasonable.
