I didn't lose any hair at all after I had my baby. In fact it was more full and thick then ever. Of coarse I chopped it all off because I couldn't handle hair and the baby (it was down past my butt) I've heard the gender of the baby can effect it. It is suppose to be worse with boys, but I had a boy. Anyway I hope this helps somehow. Good luck!

Due to hormonal changes, some people increase hair growth during pregnancy. Generally women with darker natural hair have a greater increase than fair haired women. But, no matter what your natural hair color, after the baby is born and your body starts to go back to normal the increase in growth diminishes. When that follicle's natural cycle is over, it will appear that you are loosing a great deal of hair. But you are in reality loosing the "excess" hair that your body produced for that small period of time.

However, if you attempt a strict diet as soon as the baby is born, your body may not have the nutrients it needs to maintain bone, tooth, hair, and nail density. If that is the case you will find that your nails are very brittle and your hair falls out because it breaks easier.

Take care of yourself and you should be fine.
best wishes

My friends and I all lost tons of hair a few months after we gave birth. I read somewhere that apparently you don't shed like you normally do when you're pregnant. Sometime after you give birth and your body returns to normal you begin to shed again. Think of it like this: instead of losing a little bit of hair at a time, your body catches up and you finally shed all that hair at once (or over the course of a few weeks). It's just your body getting back to normal.
