Okay folks, I need your assistant in finding the good reliable sites where I can show my friend that fat will breakdown before muscle (protein stored) during starvation not the other way around. Thanks a bunch!

since I'm major in nursing, I took all the science classes. Fat yield higher energy for the body therefore, it's naturally the body will extract from the fat. Muscle stored protein, which it provides very little energy for the body to use during starvatioin. But if there is no other fat to full energy from, of course, the body will breakdown the protein into amino acid to use as energy. So, what you heard isn't always right and so is my hardheaded friend of mine who I want to prove him wrong, so he would stop bullshitting. Can't stand that type of people who want to make other feel stupid

I am soo sure that fat breaks down first because I took Bio AP. Proteins make up DNA, muscles, and even some parts of the brain, so proteins are preserved as long as possible. That is why animals break down fat first, and protein last. Proteins are very essential to our survival so we use them for our last resort.

I always understood muscle broke down first during starvation because it was a source of protein, whereas fat is held onto as long as possible until needed. Which is why its good to eat regularly even on a diet so your body won't hold onto fat.

I am not saying I am right, but that's what I always heard.

*****Well, its always good to find out the right answer. Seems to me if you're into nursing then you should have some literature that deals with the topic already.

Fact: fat is used first before protein in case of starvation.
