Most procedures are done as an outpatient procedure. Time and type depends on how far along you are. The pain is very simular to what you would feel if you let the baby go to full term and had it. The dialation process is what is so painful. They use a tool or few to dialate you And then you feel the baby frantically trying to get away from the instriment being used to cut their limbs off and remov them piece by piece. If you baby is far enough along they will inject you with a saline solution that the baby inhales and that will kill him. The baby will have jerking and seizure like motions before it dies. Many doctors have said that they do feel that the baby is suffering during a abortion. There are complications that can arise. One is that the procedure fail and you are still with the baby, but now they have unreversable brain damage, and will need longterm care. The other is a major for you that most abortion clinics try to hide. The instriments that they use after the baby is removed is a procedure done after a misscariage called a DNC. The tool for this is very sharp. And the slightest wrong move can and will puncture your uterus. This will cause you to hemmerage and have internal bleeding. Which will show up by your blood presure dropping dramatically. Sadly some of these women never make it to the hospital and die from this. Others will have a hysterectimy. And you will never be able to have a child.
So after saying all of this. I ask you to reconsider this and do some more research before going through with it. If you decide to have the baby and can not care for it, you always have the choice of adopting. If you choose to adopt before the baby is born you could work with an agency that will let you pick the parents and most likely all of your expences while you are pregnant will be covered. If you need more info please check out the web space listed below. http://www.abortiontv.com/
And I ask you again PLEASE reconsider. You never know who your baby will be...

Despite what everyone else might seem to have an opinion on you have every right to be concerned and worried. Have you looked up any information online? Do you have someone you can talk to about this to get some information? A clinic or the hospital you are going to have the procedure?
How about for afterwards, to help you through any emotional issues or anything?

Planned parenthood has some information:

i know how hard it is to decide on having an abortion but have you actually thought this through? my friend gets cut up when she sees pregnant women and babies - the constant thoughts of it'll be however old ... how would it look. the constant thought that your first born isnt actually the first. things like im just not ready for a kid, cant afford one, ill be rasing it alone, mum and dad will kill me when they find out etc arent legitimate reasons for an abortion. you should take responsibility for your actions and not take the easy option. if you are pregnant due to rape etc or your baby has severe mental / physical problems i do apologise for my rant and i then know what a difficult position you are in.
anyway depends how far gone you are - if its early enough they'll give you pills or use a cream to start a period. if not its a hospital visit. either way the emotional pain you will carry for the rest of your life .... good luck

The way they did mine (9 weeks) was I went to the clinic. Had some counceling. Then you go home and wait for a night to think about it and if you still want to do it go back the next day and they'll do the procedure. It's not really painful but it depends on how far along you are. For me it was more like period cramps. The emotional side is far more painful then the physical side. Good luck. Make sure it's you that wants to do this and your not being forced into it. You will regret it more later if it's someone else's decision. Good luck. If you need to talk. E-mail me.

you won't have to stay in the hospital. the procedure's length depends on the procedure itself. if you're going to route of the medical abortion, it may take from a day up to a week for it to work. if you're going the route of surgical, it usually takes about 15 minutes. the pain isn't going to be horrid, but you may feel a little discomfort. if you opt to be knocked out, you won't remember nor feel anything.

no hospitals would accept abortion. its illegal,in our country yes its illegal and taboo! normally those who insist on abortion would seek an outside service. and yes you have to stay for sure for observation purposes. for how long,it depends, its a case-to-case basis. and yes,it is painful, unless performed by a real ob-gynecology,with an anaesthesiologist as her partner then the whole operation could be painless, trust me. abortion could only be legal, if you're prescribed as having a tumor or a cancer growth internally that would affect the unborn child and you, and there's an option to abort the unborn baby, so it has to be a matter of life and death decision to be able to make it legal.

No hospital stay needed. If you go to a clinic you have to go thru counseling and then you wait. Depends on how far along you are on how long it will take. Not long at all usually. It is not painfull. Feels like a vaccum cleaner in you. Just feels weird.

No, you won't need to stay longer than a day... the procedure is pretty quick and it is somewhat painful. Why don't you call the clinic in your area and ask them... they will answer any questions that you have.

This is really great!! Being a guy I have no idea how to reply to your questions. I do love the way all the ANTI ABORTION people are so snotty and unhelpful. As of the time I went through the answers there was NOT ONE suggestion of where to get help keeping a baby. PRO ABORTION people have been helpful for the most part giving suggestions where to get help etc. Gee if I was a scared young lady where would I turn?? WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!

My sister had one and she stayed about 5 hours, mainly to check vital signs and for complication, such as fever or bleeding too much. The procedure is not painful, but for several hours afterwards there was cramping and some discomfort. Please plan and look at all the possibilities beforehand when making an important decision like this.
