Just wondered since he was the biggest outsider back in the nineties. What happened to his momentum he enjoyed for awhile back then?

If the Republicans and Democrats (or the conspiracy theory organization of your choice) had wanted to solidify their power by demonstrating the utter futility of political action in this country, they couldn't have done better than to hire Ross Perot! Republicans blame Ross Perot, and by extension the people who voted for him, for Bush's loss in '92. This is a BOLD FACED LIE! Both Republican and Democratic surveys and UWSA's own internal figures clearly show that among voters who had voted in past elections, the numbers were almost evenly split between the two party's while the BULK of Perot voters HAD NEVER VOTED BEFORE or had voted independently of party consideration!!! These people were lambs to the slaughter. They were led out onto the political battle field, held up to the ridicule, hatred and derision of the body politic and left to die! In '96 'ol Ross barely got 1% of the popular vote of the pittiful few who even bothered to go out where before, he'd gotten 20% of well over 50% of the population! Had he been paid to do it, he couldn't have done it better. Perhaps by 2016 the country will be ready for another independant movement.....

I met H. Ross Perot during his ill-fated 1996 bid for U.S. President. I sat in a small meeting of volunteers after he'd just given a rousing speech on a college campus to a standing-room-only crowd of students, hundreds of whom stood outside in a downpour to listen to him speak. At this meeting, Perot gracefully answered questions and offered outstanding ideas for substantial, worthwhile change in this country. Without the glare of the TV cameras, microphones, and obnoxious media hogs, Perot was the most down-to-earth, common-sense, unfettered, intelligent Presidential candidate I've ever had the privilege of hearing (and I've been in similar private sessions with Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton).
Perot was - by far - the most sincere, genuine, patriotic individual ever to run for President in contemporary America.
His ill-mannered detractors were nothing more than sheer evidence of how brainwashed and indoctrinated most gullible, unintelligent American voters have become, thanks to a monopolistic, corrupt two-party system and the Hitleresque rantings of people like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. Had more people actually listened to Perot (instead of judging him by his critics, or on his personal diminutive demeanor), they would have recognized the man's true greatness, unabashed patriotism, outstanding idealisms, and unwavering principles, something few American politicians can even hope to aspire to as they do the devil's work to achieve power and share it with our corrupt corporate culture without regard for the citizenry. Even at this now-advanced age, Perot would make a better President than any of today's candidates - but I think he just doesn't want to get his hands dirty or take on the stench of the modern American political pig pen. -RKO- 08/25/07

I have not even thought about Mr. Perot since his failed bid for the presidency. I do think he is a genuine patriot, but his ideas are dead wrong. I do believe that he has taken a more practical course, and realized he cannot achieve the dream of being in the "Eagle's Nest"

Poor Ol' Ross cooked his own goose, by becoming paranoid and delusional.
First, he said that North Vietnamese ninjas had invaded his Texas estate, to kill him and his family, but were repelled by his guard dogs. The Ex-Marine who had trained and ran the dogs for years, said that was the first he'd heard of it. and if the incident had happened, he would have been among the first to know.
Next, Ross claimed that the Republicans had sabotaged his daughter's wedding ! Don't know if the catering was bad, or the Repub's somehow turned the bride ugly, but that claim was so outlandish that he lost all the "undecided" voters who were prepared to vote for him, and sorta faded into obscurity.

He probably is back in the hibernation chamber. Next year the best candidate will be Ronald MC Donald.
