How come when you fart in the tub, the bubbles dont emerge from the water and float off into the air?

Ah, man...that'd be SO cool if they did! Then you could float it out and pop it right in someone's face! HA! Hmmm...there's gotta be a way...

Surface tension prevents the air from escaping in a bubble. The surface tention is greater than the force of the air.
