She is confused, this is wrong. If she lost her baby it was due to something else.

No, Not really.
Sometimes during high risk pregnancies it is suggested to avoid all intercourse and orgasms because it may be that orgasms stimulate labor to begin.
But it would not cause the baby to die. In fact - most studies show that the baby may not even be aware of an orgasm in the mom and if they are they may be soothed by the gentle pulsating motions that they cause.
Her baby was unhealthy for some reason and probably would have miscarried anyway. An orgasm could cause labor but not death.

Whether or not the orgasm she experienced was somehow linked with this miscarriage is questionable, but it is certainly NOT the reason for it. There has to be a much greater cause than that to loose a baby at 16 weeks. I am very sorry for her loss, she may be confused, sad, and trying to blame something but its not an orgasm. It is perfectly fine to have orgasms while you are pregnant unless your care provider puts you on pelvic rest for a medical reason in which you are exhibiting symptoms.

I have had 3 high risk pregnancies all made it to term and are healthy children now and I have also had 3 miscarriages, one early, one in the 4 month and one in the fifth. Sex and orgasms are perfectly safe during a normal healthy pregnancy and are actually really healthy for you and your partner. However, for people like me, sex and orgasm is a big no no. Orgasms cause the uterus to contract and can put you into labor. In fact if you are overdue some doctors will even tell you...have lots of sex! It brought my newest baby into the world!!! Do yourself a favor and call your doctor to soothe your mind!!

Don't worry, as everyone else said, orgasms can't directly cause miscarriage. Maybe she had an incompetent cervix and the orgasm caused her body to trigger loss of the baby that would have occured anyway.

I have never heard of someone having a miscarriage because of an orgasm that wasn't even due to having sex.
Sex is completely safe during pregnancy unless your doctor tells you otherwise. But your friend wasn't even having sex. Did her doctor tell her that was the cause????
I don't think you should worry and stop having sex. If there's a problem your doctor will tell you.

Thats bogus.

Unless you are a high risk pregnancy and have issues with the strength of your uterus, or with the completeness of your cervix, havea history of mid-term miscarriage, then you have nothing to keep you from having sex and enjoying it.

Someone has lied to her, or else she didnt receive proper medical care from the beginning of her pregnancy, and during this loss.

Orgasms cause your body to release hormone and cause uterine contractions, but not labor. Semen contains hormones that cause contractions, but again, it doesnt CAUSE labor. Sex later in pregnancy can encourage labor to start because it can help strength contractions and open the cervix.

Its more likely that she had issue with her body and was not properly diagnosed.

I had a miscarriage myself and the Dr. told me that they have not discover the cause of most of the miscarriages but sex is the least expected cause of one, if any other reason it could been because of an infection or the baby was not healthy already.

Rest and orgasm easy...! Unless you are a high risk mom-to-be, orgasms can't cause a miscarriage.
