IT IS UTTERLY DISGRACEFUL IF ANYONE THINKS IT IS "FINE AND DANDY" TO LEAVE THEIR KIDS ALONE.
I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE AT HOME, IN A HOTEL OR AT A FRIENDS HOUSE.
YOU DO NOT LEAVE KIDS UNATTENDED.

No! I was happy when they brought out more drive thru's and pay at the pump gas stations because it meant that I didn't have to leve the kids in the car to pay for the gas. I used to pull my car up to the front of the gas station and I was on edge the whole 2 minutes I was in the store and even though I locked them in, you never know.
I can't understand people who leave their kids alone. But then again, some parents don't pay attention to the what the kids are doing even though they are in the same room as them.

Depends what you mean by alone. It would simply not be feasible to watch children round the clock and do they not need some space from their parents? Over protective parents can generate future problems for children.

No absolutely not, especially toddlers. The amount of things that can happen to a young child unattended are endless. You just cannot take that kind of risk.
The fact that the McCanns have said this is a normal thing to do and that lots of people do it has angered me no end, what kind of message is that sending out? Most responsible parents would never dream of such a thing, and to suggest that they would is just insulting.

I know a mother who has and she is being dealt with by social services but when they go and check on the kids it is once every 6 weeks, hence why my other-half, are trying to get custody of them, this has been going on for ages.
Social services will not pull their finger out of their bum and get on with it.
We have already been to court once and we have 2 more court dates before Christmas, 1 child is not living with her and we are waiting for our CRB check and a section 7 report.
People who leave there kids alone need their heads tested!

It is never ok to leave your children alone ever, not for a moment, a minute or a second.
The only time mine were away from my sight was when they were in bed asleep, and then I was in the next room. The mere thought of leaving them in the house alone sends shivers down my spine, I just couldn't do it.

Only when they are old enough to be responsible for themselves for example...knowing not to let strangers in the house, knowing their numbers so that they know what the numbers 911 is or whatever emergency numbers are in their country. When they are old enough to memorize mum and dads cell phone or another close relative etc etc etc. I would guess to say 18 mos and 3 years old is not old enough to do those things.

Absolutely under no circumstances should they be left alone!
It is appalling that these two fine specimens of child neglectors haven't been charged yet!
The minute that man came off the plane today he should have been arrested!!!
Thanks for the link Jack H, it was very interesting indeed!

Well I certainly dont think it is ok. I cant imagine why anyone would think it was! Even in a foreign country, where you want to relax, its your hols, yes, but take the kids, the bars and restaraunts welcome kids in the Med.
I would not enjoy a meal or drink, worrying about my kids! Indigestion springs to mind. At the very least.
