I just set up a home network on my iMac G5 for my pc laptop. I've successfully connected the pc laptop to the airport network, and it shows that the pc is is connected with a high signal strength and is sending packets, but is not receiving any packets. Also, when I open IE on my pc, it says that it was unable to connect.

I'm not an IT guy (obviously), but I needed to ask, am I connected, or not? If I am, what is the next step?

Don't change any settings.
Shut OFF your Computers
Pull the Power Adapter from your ISP's Modem
Pull the Power Adapter from your Airport Extreme Base.
Now wait 5 minutes and in this order.
Plug in your ISP's Modem and wait at leat 1 min.
Plug in your Airport Extreme and again wait 1 min.
Now you can restart your computers and see what you get now.

in the beginning: there is no such element as a "pc Imac". The iMac is unquestionably one of Apple's pc fashions. i assume your roommate has another form of Mac pc. The AirPort Base Station could certainly help you the two to connect, yet once you do no longer already have one, I advise which you keep you funds. A instantaneous router from a organisation at the same time with Linksys will artwork merely besides, yet will in ordinary terms fee approximately US$50. Whichever router you get, shop on with the setup training; it is relatively ordinary. very virtually all instantaneous routers (alongside with the AirPort) even have under pressure out Ethernet ports, so which you would be able to connect your desktops to it no count if or no longer they have instantaneous community adapters. (in case you like, you additionally can upload instantaneous community adapters to the desktops that have not have been given them.) Setup could in ordinary terms take approximately 10 minutes. sturdy success!
