You need to ask the closing company, but in most cases you would make the check to yourself, and sign it over at closing.

It needs to be payable to the title company or escrow agent who is doing the closing. You should receive an instruction sheet a day or so prior to closing with that information on it. It will list the date, time, and place for the closing, the amount of money and how the check should be made out and list any documents that you need to bring with you such as ID and a SS card.

A $100K and no one gave you the paperwork for making out the check ?
Wait until the attorney is available . . .
Or the escrow company , or whomever is handling closing .
Cashier's checks just take the bank 5 minutes to issue .

simply do not get the check yet. if you purchase a cashier check and it is improperly filled out, it is not acceptable and alot of the time considered unusable. you're best bet is to wait til you know for sure. And on top of that it's a huge hassle for bank employees to void out a check once it's already been written.

I always make it payable to the title company escrow account.
