I can't believe I'm asking this because it seems like such an easy question. I can't get my homepage changes to save in IE7. I have gone to the Tools menu (at least three times), pasted the new website I wish to use (in the General tab), hit Apply and said OK. When I hit the home button (or even if I completely close the window and open a new one), I still get my old homepage. I even tried going to the website and then using the home icon to change it (on the actual browser window). Nothing is working. Please help.

P.S. I don't have any reason to believe it's a virus - the old homepage is my alma mater and I want to change it to weather underground.

Thanks!

I've had this problem before, I also at first thought it was a virus, but it wasn't. What it is >> you're a victime of ad's. Places that you surfed has changed your registry to prevent the changing of your homepage. There's a free basic download of the program ad-aware, the ad-aware pro you have to buy; Hopefully with the basic version you are able to remove the registry constraint. You might also want to get SpyBot (this is a free program), this program notifies you when any program or any ad's want to change your registry and will ask you for permission. I use both and work great together, along with ZoneAlarm (firewall) and Norton Anti-Virus.

Good Luck!

When you go into IE7 and change the homepage, did you click on "Apply" before you clicked on "OK"?

If not, give that a shot.

Also, once you do the apply/ok steps above, try rebooting your pc to get rid of any things residing in "memory".

Hope this helps.
