I would have thought that they would want it to remain in the media spotlight for as long as possible to increase the chances of her being found? They just get odder. They should want to keep the media on-side as they were keen to be involved with them at the beginning. If the media loses intrest, the world soon will too and forget all about her.

It doesn't seem very fair. We follow the story for months and then get told we can't watch the conclusion. It's like telling us that we can't watch lord of the rings 3 after we've sat through the seven hours of the first two movies.
