I downloaded the 3rd episode of Geass Code from da-anime.org... the format is .mkv... I am hoping it is a video... any clue how to view this file...

it's definitely a video. a lot of japanese videos come as MKV
most people recommend you get the Matroska codecs if you can't play MKVs

you could always use the following players

and Media Player Classic
http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/
should have the codecs built in

you need a software player to play mkv.
also you can download support things for your window media player.
i dont know is unlegal or what but you can
use this player http://download.baofeng.com/stormII/StormII.exe
if your computer support chinese language.
