It was rude for your lover to say that he wanted to spend his birthday with you and then change his mind...However it his birthday and he should celebrate it as he wishes....his behavior my be an indication of what things will be like in the future...so keep that in mind. As far as ending the relationship... I don't think you should based solely on his decision to change his birthday plans.

I think I would not feel real high on his priority list and would be questioning his maturity level and ability to be an equal and loving partner in our relationship. I think if he wants you to enjoy his birthday with him and his co-workers, you could negotiate that, but if you were excluded, then you have to make a decision whether you want to be last on his priority list all your life or whether you want to be with a mature man willing to make you his top priority. You want a man to be with you because he'd rather be no place else in the world. If you have to ask him to spend time with you, then let him go play with the other boys and go find a real man.

I'd be hurt. And probably pissed off. Was inconsiderate. Yes, it's his birthday, but since he said he wanted to spend it with you, he had no idea what you had planned. Maybe you already bought tickets to an event, made reservations or who knows what else.
I don't think you should break up over one event, but it would be enough to cause me concern. If this has happened before, it might be time to move on.

That's pretty rude! You need to punish him, he should have known better. Give him the cold shoulder for awhile. Make it obvious that he's misbehaved and your not going to put up with it. He may be testing you to see what he can get away with. Let him know he can't get away with disrespecting you Go out with your friends and ditch him. He won't like that you are no longer waiting around on him. All this IF you decide to stay with him. But you should consider kicking him to the curb.

You tell him he better decide whats important, and that a man that doesn't keep his word is no type of man at all.. Tell him he cant just use u when he likes for his fun but not make u part of his life and his special occasions, because it means he's treating you like a booty call.. I hate to say, really I do, but i seen it all before.. Good Luck!

Are you just a lovers or is there a mutually heartfelt relationship? If you are just lovers then his behavior is understandable, rude but understandable. If not, I would see it as a HUGE red flag.

Thats crazy what he did, if he changed plans to hang with the Co-workers instead of you, then he should of invited you. Something doesnt sound right.

I would definitely be mad. Is it worth ending a relationship? Only you can answer that. Does he love you? Does he respect you? Does he treat you right? If the answer is no, then you probably get rid of him and find yourself someone new.

well it really depends on what u look like, just kidding, end the relationship because of him changing his mind, no, but it sounds like two people need to sit down and get some priorities straight.
