you can erased the content of a CD if it is a CD-RW type, it means it is a Rewritable CD, if it is a CD-R, it means it is a Recordable CD, you cannot re-use and delete the files inside. so check if your CD is a CD-R or CD-RW type.

for CD-RW type CD or DVD
i recommend to use Nero Express to erased all the data, movie audio files inside a disc because it is using a Universal fomat that can use in any type of computers

It depends on the CD you used. Some cd can rewrite some can't.

The above answers are good.

This may have nothing to do with the spirit of your question, but some paper shredders can also destroy CDs.

Simple:

CD-R

You cannot not, one the disc is written you cannot delete or add files/music.

CD-RW

You are still able to read and write files into the CD.

Same applies to DVDs.

DVD-R

Once written, you cannot add or delete files.

DVD-RW

You can still read and write files into the DVD.
