No, because the amount of electricity prison inmates could generate would not be enough to provide for lower-income families and residences. That and it's completely absurd.

Not a bad idea !! I'll let them do the math !! I was thinking have about 200 hundred or more inmates to get on a gym room or building full of bikes & they each have to be on the bike"s" for about 20/25 minutes each day!?! Or however many minutes that would be realistic!?! As to not give anyone a stroke or heart~attack!?! But those on death~row must be on one 3 hours straight !! But only on the day of execution will they have to start in the morning & ride til they ca'nt anylonger make the wheels turn !?!& when they look like they are about to drop.. have the next death row inmate jump on for awhile !! Or til the day of execution.. I have it more detailed in my head !! oh',well..``R"r,r`r,r.'.`

I've always been a big proponent of chain gangs, so this idea tickles me to death. But lets not stop it just for lower income families. There are enough inmates for us to generate electricity for all of us. They don't need to be sitting back getting that college education that I couldn't afford to get. Especially the lifers. Put there butts to work.

I'd vote for that one. Gather a few more ideas like that and I think political power beckons! Genius.

that would be a good idea, but it wouldn't fly because then some one could accuse the penalty system as a means of slavery.
