Basically you have to get some sort of allowance/right to be able to do that.Try writing to the company or ringing up (it's better to speak to someone over the phone) and get advice/help from an agency who knows about copyright. You can perform in your house or at venues but I think the only issue would be if you make a profit from performing .If you perform and make money for it without some sort of legal claim or right you could in the worse case scenario get taken to court.

Fall Out Boy and Nickelback will have to be banned from masking songs. Especially Fall Out Boy. They suck at masking. They ruined Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" as good with a horrible refrain. As for covers I did revel in: Dinosaur Jr. - "Just Like Heaven" (The Cure duvet) Bauhaus - "Ziggy Stardust" (David Bowie) Hendrix - "All Along The Watchtower" and "Like A Rolling Stone" (each Bob Dylan)
