With generic motherboards it could be anything... You need to locate the driver disk that came with your motherboard, or find the specific model number from the documentation or packing slip that came with it. If you don't have that, you'll probably need to open the case and see what's printed on the mobo itself.
Your CPU is an AMD Athlon 64, but the motherboard was made by ASUS, or MSI, or Gigagbyte etc. You'll need the details in order to find out which sound driver to download.

Well many of us think that the processor makes difference in terms of the drivers, you need. which actually is an incorrect definition. On the desktop, press "Windows Key" and "Pause/Break" together. Now in the system properties, go to "Hardware" open "Device Manager". All the devices shown with yellow Question-mark are the components which are not been installed yet. Check out motherboard details (e.g. model no.) then go to product manufacturer homepage and simply download the drivers recommended for your Model.

Download the following; www.belarc.com
Click on the "Free Download" Tab. Save it to your desktop. Once the download is complete, go to your Desktop. look for Icon "Belarc Advisor.exe Double click to initate the installation. Once completed, this will provide you with all the information about your PC Hardware, software, and Microsoft updates that are presently installed on your PC. You will see a heading "Mutimedia", and under this heading will be your Sound Card Information (Example; Realtek AC97 Audio).
This should provide you with the information you need in order to find the appropriate Drivers. If you go to www.microsoftupdates.com the drivers may also be available by using the "Custom" Update Option instead of the "Express" Option. Once it is completed, you will see Hardware Optional located on the left side pane, click on it to see if the audio drivers are listed. Another option is to go to your PC Manufacturer Website (ie www.hp.com, www.dell.com, etc) and navigate to the Downloads Tab, which will have all of your Drivers that came preloaded on your PC. They will ask for your Model Number, and Operating System.
Good Luck!!

Try, Everesthome edition. It is a diagnostic program which shows and tells you all about the system you have. It is freeware so it will not cost a dime. This is the site for a free download and it loads in about 30 sec.
