I don't mention anything until someone else does. In that case I look around the elevator in disgust and blame it on an old man. That way, the blame is off of me.

Hmm...er it depends how loud it is. For example, if you did and elephant, then all the people will know where it came from. But, if it is a mouse, then its deadly. I would, if I actually did do a stinky, then I'll just control my muscles and make it silent. Trust me, theres LOTs of times when I always wanted to fart and I made it silent and all the people began to get suspicious.

I'd say "SHUT UP!!! You're always TALKING!!" Then look toward another passenger and say "Not you, I was talking to my butt."
or...
I'd try to blame it on the leather seat cushions; "that wasn't a fart, it's these leather seats."
or...
If there's only one other passenger, look at him / her and take a step away.
