what's the difference between someone who wants attention/shows they are suicidal with the way they dress, talk, etc. & someone who doesn't-(they keep quiet, but look unhappy)? (I used to dress wild & show it in my art yrs ago but now I don't care to & several people always ask me to cheer up.

It's not good to stuff your feelings, but better to express them a positive way in your life. There have been so many breakthroughs in science that you may be able to flip the whole thing and go the other way. Tips, you have emotions, your are not them and can get back and observe them because you are really the thing that is aware of the show, the awareness. It has no worry, feelings. You are not your mind either. The mind is a super quantum computer and mechanical, chemical like the body. They are both like your vehicle you use. The higher consciousness does the thinking. We call it the subconscious. It's more conscious then we could ever be, we're not even very conscious of it. lol Anyway it has all your happy drugs so go get them with Emotional Intelligence and intuition. My Yahoo group is IntuitionIsEverything I'll put some links there.

There really isn't a difference, if you are depressed and suicidal you need to go talk to someone. Whether you are expressing it through art or whether you are not doesn't change the fact that you need help. Sounds like you've lost interest in art all together? Why can't you cheer up? You're probably very talented, go talk to someone so you can keep creating.

I would be far more concerned for the person who suddenly changes into a quiet and sad person. My grandmother suffered from depression for ten years after my grandfather died, although she was usually a funny and cheerful person, when she was down it was almost unbearable to watch. I wouldn't take any talk of suicide lightly and would recommend getting help from a counselor or therapist. And if the case is severe maybe even medication (which I feel should be a last resort)

Get help. =)

I think sometimes people who do it for attention are just faking while the ones that are quieter are really suffering. But it depends on the person and the severity of the depression.

Good luck, seek a psychologist.

You know, it's a good question.

For example, when editor-in-chief of one of the newspapers gets depression, it reflects on his articles.

Then articles become depressed mood, they become boring and not interesting for people.

So, you're not alone!
